Follow-up---the end????

#23. I have enjoyed working on this blog. I had no idea what a "blog" was, had never heard the word used and had no interest in discovering its meaning. I am glad I have had the opportunity to find out. BUT, even though I have enjoyed working on Crabbypatty, I realize it was more difficult for others who do not have a computer at home.

That said..... My favorite activities were Flicka, rss feeds, the wikki (especially reading the evilibrarian's wikki. Don't forget my Pepper!!!)

I liked the podcast and youtube a bunch. It's amazing how everyone took the same activities and made them unique. Even with copying and sharing everyone's is different.
Learning new things is always great, but learning and sharing with others made this experience fun.

A little bit a worthless trivia... my computer is on California time, I change the setting and it always changes back..go figure... so all my postings from home are really 3 hours later.

week 9

22. Explored Netlibrary. Tried to access it at home. No luck-had to be at work to set up an account. It looks like a great site if you're looking up information. I tried some of my favorite fiction authors and had no success. But when I looked up information like exercise and diabetes I found lots of reference material. I tried homeschooling and got "Sams Teach Yourself the Internet in 24 Hours". What's up with that????? Over all I'm still not sure about this. I'll have to try again. I am anxious to get my m3p player and try to download some audio books!!! netlibrary



21. Finally, I explored and experimented with the podcast. Added different things to my bloglines account. Set up a music account with finetunes. Hope you have the time to listen to a little classic rock. I really enjoyed the podcasting. It would be fun to crate your own podcast. I think this might be a fun project for the teens.



20. I think youtube is such a creative site. People spend so much time downloading videos and sharing them with all of us. I could spend some interesting moments investigating youtube!!
Teens love youtube and myspace. It would be interesting to see if the Library could explore and exploit this interest. Maybe we could have created a video of the Harry Potter kick off at Poland Library. I understand it was really something.

Week 8

18. played with Zoho Writer. I love this site. It will allow anyone with internet to have access to word processing and so much more. http://writer.zoho.com/index.do# The following paragraph was written using Zoho Writer. And as you can see, adding a picture is no problem.

19. I'm kind of cheating with this one. I liked a lot of sites on the short list. Pandora seemed interesting, we all love music. But I decided on craigslist. To be truthful, I've used craigslist before and find it useful. My children who live in California and Oklahoma introduced it to me. They have been more successful than I because they have more to choose from. But the Youngstown area's craiglist is growing. Check out this site if you like garage sales. Maybe you can find a bargain.

Week 7

16. Learnign about Wiki's!!! I love Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. I've gone to that site lots of times without knowing what about "Wiki's". I think Wiki's would be wonderful for school projects or (as Monica is doing) sharing recipe ideas. I may have to copy and add to her Wiki! Here it is monica's Wiki

For my wiki I'm creating a Stephanie Plum page. Please add to it to make it interesting and intertaining.Crabby's wiki Discovered that you will need the password if you want to add to my wiki so I made it easy crabbyswiki. Hope you'll give it a try.

13. Setting up a Del.icio.us account was easy. Now it's deciding what sites will be useful or interesting. my del.icio.us
14. Still learning about Technorati. Will play with it again to gain loads of info about tagging.

15. Read about the future of the Library. Away from the “icebergs” had some interesting yet daunting facts about the future of the library. It certainly appears that circulation is down for many library systems and we must adjust to meet the needs of the future.
